In fact, the DOT gave Belford an outstanding score of 98.3% for vehicle safety and restraint compliance in 2017. This is an increase of nearly 5% from the previous year, and it shows that Belford is committed to keeping its residents safe on the roads.
Some of the measures Belford has taken to improve safety include increasing the number of police officers patrolling the streets, improving signage and road markings, and installing speed bumps and other traffic calming measures. In addition, the city has worked with the local school district to educate students about the importance of following the rules of the road.
Thanks to the efforts of the Belford Police Department and the city’s other safety initiatives, the city has seen a significant decrease in traffic accidents and injuries. In 2017, there were just 12 accidents reported, down from 22 the year before. And, there were no serious injuries or fatalities reported, compared to four in 2016.
